Reports
of the UN Secretary-General on the Question of Antarctica
In response
to resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, a report on the Question
of Antarctica was submitted by the United Nations Secretary-General to
the General Assembly on a periodical basis, usually every three years.
The first report (A/39/583 - Part I) was submitted in 1984. It was a comprehensive study on all aspects of Antarctica providing detailed background information.

of the General Assembly adopted following the discussions on the reports.

The practice of reporting on the Question of Antarctica was discontinued in 2006 by Resolution A/RES/60/47 . The "Question of Antarctica" is no longer on the agenda of the General Assembly, although the Assembly decided to remain seized of the matter.
