On Tuesday July 8, UNEP experts joined by other international specialists met with members of the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) for a one-day workshop entitled "Experience Sharing for Post Earthquake Environmental Restoration".
The workshop centered around four primary themes: Post-Disaster Planning for Rehabilitation, Ecological and Environmental Impact Assessment, Ecological Restoration and Pollution Treatment, and Environmental Management of Temporary Settlement and Rebuilding. It was followed by two days of informal meetings between the international and Chinese contingents to enable more detailed discussions.
The event was hosted by the UNEP China office, and coordinated by the Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch in Geneva. |
