Due to UNEP’s growing role in South Sudan, the organization has provided critical policy guidance to the Government of South Sudan and key ministries on new environmental regulations, such as the draft Environmental Bill, and on compliance with multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).

UNEP will continue to provide this guidance, through timely liaison, to key government ministries and institutions.

UNEP is also leading the integration of environmental concerns in the UN Humanitarian Programme through the Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) 2013 in South Sudan. The CAP brings aid organizations together to jointly plan, coordinate, implement and monitor their actions.
