Energy, Climate and Technology

.Located in Paris and Nairobi, the Energy, Climate and Technology branch leads UNEP’s work on climate change mitigation by addressing the environmental consequences of energy production and use. The Branch aims to promote policies that place energy and transport within a broader sustainable development context, and to steer project developers and the investment community towards greater engagement in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.

UNEP’s energy work is supported by two Collaborating Centres: The Frankfurt School–UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate and Sustainable Energy Finance, and the UNEP DTU Partnership. UNEP also contributes to the work of several other organizations in the UN system, assisting with coordination and offering expertise to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as initiatives such as UNFCCC’s Green Climate Fund.
