About

Discovering a Changing Earth...

Environmental expeditions are journeys of discovery that mean to explore, research and assess aspects of environmental change.  Such journeys offer first hand evidence of how human activities are impacting natural balance.  They offer an opportunity for decision makers to observe the trends and take action. Environmental assessment underpins decision-making by UNEP Governing Council, multilateral environmental agreements, regional ministerial environmental forums, the private sector and national and local authorities.

UNEP undertakes, supports and is partner to expeditions that cover a variety of thematic and geographic spheres. From Polar regions to the African Montane Forests, researchers, scientists and artists are set to record and share observations.  They are offering first-hand knowledge and eye-witness testimonies to help enlighten the environmental conscience of the world.
