Adel Abdel-Kader
Adel Abdel-Kader is the Officer-of-Charge of UNEP Regional Office for West Asia. He also has been the Regional Coordinator of UNEP's Division of Early Warning Assessment since 2003. He joined UNEP in 2001 as programme officer. His expertise is in integrated environmental assessment and reporting, policy analysis, environmental information systems and knowledge management; coastal and marine environment, decision support, strategic planning and management, scenario development, and the use of remote sensing and GIS in environmental applications.

Before joining UNEP, he worked as senior advisor for the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), and as professor at Mansoura University in Egypt. He has over 34 years of work experience in the field of environment, 18 of which working with international organizations.

Mr. Abdel-Kader holds a Ph D from Mansoura University (Egypt) and the Ohio State University (USA), and a Masters degree in Marine Studies from the University of Delaware (USA). He undertook graduate studies at Florida Institute of Technology (USA) in the field of Oceanography, and a bachelor of science from Mansoura University, Egypt. He received several awards and honors and has authored more than 100 articles, reports, and book chapters.
