Jyoti Mathur-Filipp
Jyoti Mathur-Filipp is the Senior Communications and Outreach Officer for the Division of the Global Environment Facility.

Prior to this she was the Project Manager for the 139-country UNEP-GEF at UNEP project Building Capacity for Effective Participation in the Biosafety Clearing-House (BCH) in Geneva. She joined UNEP as Project Manager in November 2003 to manage the UNEP-GEF project. The Biosafety Clearing-House is a tool for implementing the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and it essential for all Parties to the Protocol to use the BCH to share information in order to fulfill their obligations to the Protocol.

Prior to joining UNEP, Jyoti worked at the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and assisted with the capacity-building agenda item. At the secretariat, Jyoti also developed a library of capacity-building tools, guidelines and applications to assist countries in fulfilling their mandates.

Her career in international public service started in the Unisted Nations Development Programme in 1993 where Jyoti started work as a Programme Officer in UNDPs Global Environment Facility working initially for the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific and later for the Regional Bureau for CEE countries. Jyoti then worked for UNDPs Capacity 21 programme as an information Officer where she focused on developing resources for countries to use to develop and implement their national Agenda 21 programmes. In 1999, Jyoti worked with the first private-public partnership between a UN organization and the private sector, Netaid (between UNDP and Cisco systems) to promote awareness of poverty-related issues among the public.

Jyotis career has been devoted to finding solutions for better management of the environment and raising awareness and advocacy on issues directly related to the importance of sustainable development.

Jyoti holds am Advanced Degree (M Sci) in Urban Policy, Management and Planning from the New School for Social Research in New York as well as a Master of Business Administration from the City University of New York.
