Danica Valnicek
Danica Valnicek is Programme Officer at UNEP Regional Office for Europe (located in Geneva) where her current focus is the development and implementation of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea (Tehran Convention). She has been working on the UNEP component of the GEF and EU funded projects under the umbrella of the Caspian Environment Programme since 2000.

She has also been actively involved in UNEP/ROEs activities relevant to the implementation of the UN/ECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making, and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention).

Before joining UNEP she worked as a lawyer at an environmental law consultancy firm and an international law firm in Brussels.

Danica holds a Masters of Law, specialized in International Studies, from Lund University in Sweden, as well as a postgraduate diploma from the Europa-Institut, University of Saarland, Saarbrcken, Germany.
