Joan Eamer
Joan Eamer, editor of the Global Outlook for Ice and Snow, is manager of the Polar Programme at UNEP/GRID-Arendal in Norway. She has an MSc degree in zoology from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prior to joining UNEP/GRID-Arendal in 2005 she worked as a scientist and a programme manager in northern Canada for industry and government.

Her experience includes work on Arctic climate change science, environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, state of the environment reporting, and development of ecological and community-based monitoring and research networks in Canadas Arctic. She was a contributing author of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and is lead author for the polar regions for UNEPs Global Environmental Outlook reports.

UNEP/GRID-Arendal, an international foundation based in Norway, provides support and services to UNEP in the field of environmental information and is UNEPs Key Polar Centre.
