Jinhua Zhang
Jinhua Zhang has worked in Bangkok, Thailand since 2004 as Acting Regional Coordinator of UNEP's Division of Early Warning and Assessment - Asia & the Pacific. His work involves the development of the integrated environmental assessment for Central Asia, a report endorsed by the subregional ministerial meeting in November 2006. He also works on the Great Mekong Environment Outlook and the South Asia Environment Outlook.

As part of UNEP DEWA's capacity building programme, more than 10 countries and cities have received assistance regarding use of UNEP's GEO methodologies to develop national and city environment outlooks. In order to meet the environmental challenges and national needs, DEWA will compile a national and city assessment report on climate change in the second half of 2007. This will be a joint project between UNEP and partners.

Jinhua was born in central China, and received his BSc from Nanjing Agricultural University. After five years working in the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as a researcher focusing on soil and land resources inventory and evaluation, he received a scholarship from the Netherlands, and furthered his studies at Wageningen University.
