Cristina Gueco
Cristina Gueco works with the UNEP Finance Initiative and is responsible for managing the African Task Force (ATF) and the Human Rights Work Stream (HRWS). She liases with financial institutions in Africa to promote sustainable finance in the region by facilitating e-learning programmes and organising events on the topic; carrying out studies and conducting research; and, producing reports on subjects such as commercial microfinance and financing sustainable SMEs in Africa.

On human rights and finance, Cristina works with UNEP Finance Initiative signatories committed to exploring the intricate relationship between human rights and financial sector practices. The work of the HRWS aims to address human rights as they relate to the activities of finance institutions, including those linked to environmental sustainability, and responds to declarations to pursue sustainable development made by UNEP FI members to the WSSD in Johannesburg in 2002.

Prior to joining UNEP in 2005, Cristina worked as a consultant on trade and development issues for various UN , intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Anthropology and a Master's Degree in International Policy Studies, with a specialization in Trade and Development from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
