Peter Prokosch
Peter Prokosch is the Managing Director of GRID-Arendal, an official United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) centre located in Southern Norway, with out posted offices in Geneva, Ottawa and Stockholm. The mission of GRID-Arendal is to provide environmental information, communications and capacity building services for information management and assessment. Established to strengthen the United Nations through its Environment Programme (UNEP), GRID-Arendal's focus is to make credible, science-based knowledge understandable to the public and to decision-making for sustainable development.

Peter previously served as Chief Executive Officer of WWF Germany in Frankfurt, and as Director of WWF Internationals Arctic Programme in Oslo, Norway. Furthermore, he also established and led the Wadden Sea Office of WWF Germany in Kiel (cooperation with University) and Husum, and served as Head of the research project "Functions of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea for Arctic Shorebirds" at the Staatliche Vogelschutzwarte Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel (department of Ministry for Agriculture and Forest). Prior to this, he performed consultancy activities for the government of Schleswig-Holstein on coastal protection measures in the Nordstrand Bay, as well as on Brent geese and saltmarshes.

Peter has a PhD in Zoology, Marine Biology and Oceanography from Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, a diploma thesis (Zoology) on the ecology of Brent Geese (Branta b.bernicla) in the Wadden Sea of Schleswig-Holstein, and also completed coursework in Biology at the University of Bonn and Kiel.
