Hugo Ahlenius
Hugo Ahlenius is working for the UNEP/GRID-Arendal environmental
information centre in Norway, since 2000. He has an MSc degree in
physical geography from Uppsala University, Sweden.

The focus of his work within UNEP has been in the field of geography and
communication of environmental information. Hugo has previously worked
with the Poverty Mapping project, together with partners such as FAO and
CGIAR, and with information and data management for the Baltic Sea
Region. Current work is related to UNEP/GRID-Arendal's Arctic activities
and the communication of environmental information through maps and
graphics. Hugo has been a contributor to UNEP reports, such as Global
Outlook for Ice and Snow, and GEO-4. An ongoing activity is the modeling
within the GLOBIO programme, in co-operation with UNEP-World
Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and MNP in Netherlands. The
programme models the current and future impacts by human activities on
the biosphere, by map modeling and analysis.

UNEP/GRID-Arendal, an international foundation based in Norway, provides
support and services to UNEP in the field of environmental information
and is UNEP's Key Polar Centre.
