Maria Cristina Zucca
Maria Cristina Zucca works as a Legal officer for UNEP in Nairobi, Kenya. Since she joined UNEP in 2001 she has been dealing with environmental law at the national and international levels, focusing inter alia on capacity building and technical assistance to developing countries for the development of environmental legislation. She also contributed to seminars, studies, publications and other initiatives for the promotion of the advancement of international environmental law. After two years spent in Montreal at the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer, she has recently returned to Nairobi to work in the Division of Environmental Law and Conventions, focusing on synergies and interlinkages issues.

Prior to joining UNEP, Cristina worked in the private sector, for a public research institution and the Italian Ministry of Environment. She was involved in the provision of advisory services on environmental management and health and safety at work; drafting legislation; organizing conferences; preparing publications and assisting in the development and implementation of bilateral cooperation projects.

Cristina obtained her law degree from the University of Bologna and a masters degree on International Legal Studies from the University of Verona.
