Experts' profiles - Nancy Bennet
Nancy Bennet
Nancy Bennet is a programme officer with the UNEP Coordination Office for the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities working on nutrients and their effects in coastal and marine environments. She is developing the Global Partnership on Nutrient Management and GEF related activities. Nancy also coordinated the second intergovernmental review of the GPA held in Beijing in October 2006.

Nancy began her career with UNEP at the Division of Technology, Industry and Economics where she developed UNEP’s work on corporate social responsibility in particular on environmental reporting and environmental management systems. She served as a founding steering committee member of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and was instrumental in developing the GRI from an idea to a project to an independent organisation based in Amsterdam.

Before joining UNEP, Nancy worked for the Chulabhorn Research Institute in Bangkok, Thailand and the GLOBE Foundation in Vancouver, Canada. Nancy holds an advanced Masters degree in Public International Law from Leiden University, The Netherlands and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
