Antonio Perera
Antonio Perera, has been working for UNEP for three years and today heads UNEP's country programme in Haiti, which was established in 2008. A graduate from the University of Havana in Biological Sciences, as well as the Technical University of Dresden in Environmental Impact Assessment and Resources Management, Antonio has some 30 years working experience in the fields of ecological research and protected areas management, including significant environment management experience within the United Nations. The first 20 years of his career were primarily devoted to the development and implementation of the national system of Protected Areas in Cuba. During that period he was an active as member and partner in organizations including International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as well as the Latin-American network of National Parks and the World Wild Fund (WWF) and many others. For the last 10 years, Antonio has been worked for numerous UN agencies including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Latin-American region.
