Ersin Esen
Ersin Esen is the project manager of UNEPs Project for Ecosystem Services (Proecoserv) implemented in five countries: Chile, South Africa, Lesotho, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam. The overall goal of the Proecoserv is to better integrate ecosystem assessment, scenario development and economic valuation of ecosystem services into national sustainable development planning.

Ersin has 13 years of experience in development planning, environmental management and policy development. Before joining to UNEP, Ersin worked as a planning expert in State Planning Organization in Turkey. Amongst some of his duties were coordinating preparations of long-term development plans and medium term programs, managing the investment budget of environment and urban infrastructure projects financed with central government funds as well as assisting senior management in defending budget proposals. Ersin also participated in the negotiations with multilateral and bilateral international development organizations. Working as part of the team responsible for facilitating the strategic planning program of the public administration reform of Turkey, and serving as a negotiator in multilateral environmental agreements from 2006 to 2010 were other tasks he was involved.

Prior to his position with UNEP, Ersin was advisor for the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey assisting on the UN Global Sustainability Panel and multilateral climate change negotiations. Ersin holds Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from Middle East Technical University, Turkey and Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.
