Thierry Lucas is the manager of the project Knowledge from Science to Societies (KNOSSOS) http://www.unep.org/research4policy/ supported by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. KNOSSOS addresses the gap between science and society in the field of environmental research with a focus on policy makers by making the large knowledge potential from environmental research activities available for up-take and exploitation in policy making.
Mr. Lucas is also responsible for the Secretariat of the pan European Biological and Landscape Diversity Strategy serving 55 European member states implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity; Mr Lucas has been serving the UN for 15 years with field experience in more than 25 countries worldwide (Africa, Asia).
He was the project manager of one of the biggest adolescent health programme in Asia from 2003 to 2007, coordinating a consortium of projects implemented by NGOs and local governments. He is the contact point for EU Environment Research for UNEP in the Brussels Liaison office. He holds an engineer degree from Polytechnique Grenoble (France) in computer science and applied mathematics.
