Nickolai Denisov
Nickolai Denisov is Coordinator for Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and Deputy Director of the GRID-Arendal Office in Geneva. He is responsible for development and management of GRID-Arendal activities in Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia with the main focus on capacity building for managing environmental information and reporting on environmental issues. He also participates in the secretariat of UNEP-UNDP-OSCE-UNECE-REC-NATO Environment and Security initiative (ENVSEC).

Prior to his current post he was also the Head of the Environmental Reporting and Indicators Unit and a Programme Officer for Central and Eastern Europe and Developing Countries at UNEP/GRID-Arendal in Norway.

Nickolai also worked at Moscow State University as a Researcher, Moscow Regional Institute of Urban Planning as a Water Resources Specialist and in the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Duke University as a Research Assistant. He has written or contributed to over 50 publications such including papers, reports, and brochures.

He holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Science from Russian Academy of Science, a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, a Masters degree in Geography / Environmental Management from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, and a Non-degree studies in Water Quality Modelling from Duke University (USA).
