Virginie Hart
Virginie Hart is currently a Task Manager for UNEP, Division of Global Environment Facility Coordination (DGEF), engaged in the development and oversight of projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in addressing transboundary and global issues relevant to international water systems in Africa and the Mediterranean. These regional projects predominantly focus on increasing the capacity of countries to manage their coastal and marine environment, and demonstrating measures to reduce pollution, habitat degradation and ensure a more sustainable use of all natural resources.

Previously she worked on the development and execution of several UNEP/GEF projects in the Mediterranean and Africa and on methodologies for assessing anthropogenic causes of environmental degradation to international waters. Educated in Marine Biology and Oceanography at Bangor University, North Wales, and with a Ph.D in Marine Bio-geochemistry from Southampton University, she has worked extensively as a nutrient and trace metal biogeochemist in the North Atlantic, English Channel and Mediterranean Sea.
