Jaap Van Woerden
Jaap van Woerden is environmental data and indicator specialist at UNEP's Division of Early Warning and Assessment office in Geneva. He has extensive experience in environmental data coordination & management and indicator development. Mr Van Woerden holds a Masters degree in (Human/Urban) Geography from the University of Utrecht (Netherlands). He worked at that University as research fellow, focusing on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for developing countries, was with UNEP/DEWA as Junior Professional Officer in Nairobi and Geneva before joining the Dutch Environment Assessment Agency (PBL) as International Data Coordinator and since 2002 he is back at UNEP in Geneva as Data Coordinator. He is author of various reports and publications on core environmental data and indicators in support of assessment and reporting on the global environment, and contributes to several of UNEP's environmental assessments, notably the Global Environment Outlook (GEO), the UNEP Year Book, reports of the International Resource Panel (IRP) and the Transboundary Water Assessment Programme (TWAP).
