Hiroko Sugimoto
Hiroko Sugimoto is an Associate Programme Officer with the Division of Global Environmental Facility Coordination. She works in the area of capacity development for environmental management particularly in climate change and cross cutting environmental issues. She supports countries in preparing national reports such as UNFCCC Second National Communication (SNCs) and National Capacity Self-Assessments for Environmental Management (NCSAs) particularly through information and knowledge management.

Prior to joining UNEP, she worked in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and CSR reporting, namely the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in Japan. She was responsible for coordinating programmes that encouraged private sector engagements to environmental, social and sustainability issues. She also organized events with the UN Global Compact in Japan.

Hiroko holds a MS degree in Environmental Policy from the State University of New York / College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Kansei Gakuin University in Japan
