Anna Kontorov
Anna Kontorov works as a Programme Officer in the UNEP Climate Change Adaptation Unit, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Since joining UNEP in December 2007, Anna has been involved in the development and implementation of UNEP-wide climate change adaptation projects and initiatives. Her current key tasks focus on adaptation knowledge management, including the development of the Global Adaptation Network, provision of support to the regional adaptation networks, and the organization of knowledge-sharing events and publications. Anna is also responsible for the implementation of the MDG-F Joint Programme in Mozambique, and is involved in the further development of UNEP’s Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EBA) portfolio.

Before joining UNEP, Anna worked at the Ministry of the Environment in her home country, Finland. During her two and a half years at the Ministry, she worked mainly on European Union and international biodiversity policy, including the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Anna was also actively involved in the organization of the Finnish EU Presidency of autumn 2006, in particular with regard to biodiversity and nature conservation activities.

Anna holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University, where she wrote her dissertation on water quality issues in rural India. She obtained her BA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
