Susan Steinhagen
Susan Steinhagen works with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), a unique public-private partnership between the United Nations and the global financial sector. UNEP FI has over 170 Signatories to the UNEP Statements, all working together to advance sustainability in the finance sector.
Her current activities include coordinating UNEP FIs activities on biodiversity & ecosystem services as well as managing UNEP FIs operations in the Asia Pacific region. In these roles, Susan works to advance the mainstream integration of environmental, social and governance issues in investment decision-making, as well as promote and implement responsible investment and sustainable finance through awareness-raising and outreach. Susan works with finance sector partners that range from asset managers and insurers to institutional investors, multinational banks and local financial institutions.
Prior to joining UNEP FI in 2005, Susan worked as a research editor for global growth consultancy, Frost & Sullivan.
Susan has a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Madras, India, and a Bachelors degree in Economics also from the University of Madras. She loves swimming and biking, and is a national and international medallist having represented India at various Asian and international triathlon competitions.
