Romain Perez joined the team of UNEP DTIE to contribute to the development of the Resource Panel. He is in charge of publication monitoring, partnership development, communication strategy as well as administrative support. In 2009, the Reports of the Panel will be produced by the Working Groups on biofuels, global metal flows, prioritization and decoupling. It will be a challenging development for me as well as the rest of the team.
Before joining UNEP, he worked for 5 years for the UN Secretariat. He was involved in international trade negotiations at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (Ethiopia) from 2004 to 2006. My assignment was to conduct in-depth research and analysis on trade negotiations, in order to help African countries to negotiate equitable agreements with their partners. Based on general and partial equilibrium models, he provided quantitative assessments of bilateral and multilateral agreements, such as the Economic Partnership Agreements between ACP countries and the European Union. From 2006 to 2008, he was involved in the reflection on the future of the Marrakech process and the preparation of 10-Year Framework Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production at the Division for Sustainable Development of UNDESA (NYC). He was also contributing to the Secretariat of the Commission for Sustainable Development.
Romain graduated from the Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC, 2001) and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po, 1998).
