Monika Bertzky
Monika Bertzky is a Programme Officer in the Climate Change and Biodiversity Programme at the United Nations Environment Programme - World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), Cambridge, UK. The Programme carries out policy-relevant analyses in three main areas: the impacts of climate change on ecosystems, the role of ecosystems in climate change adaptation, and the role of ecosystems in climate change mitigation. Monika's main activities include work on carbon in ecosystems, biofuels and climate change impacts on biodiversity.

Before joining UNEP-WCMC, Monika worked as a research fellow on governance of biodiversity with a special focus on success and failure factors of protected areas for over 4 years. She holds a diploma in biology (University of Bonn, Germany) and a PhD in human geography (University of Greifswald, Germany).
