Geoff Thompson works in the Division of Communications and Public Information. His primary roles involve coordinating the production of Our Planet, UNEPs quarterly flagship magazine and coordinating UNEPs communications activities for the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.
His professional background is in education, public awareness and community involvement relating to science and the environment. In Australia, he has worked in the communications teams of several government agencies responsible for the environment and science communication. Prior to joining UNEP he worked for UN-CAPSA an Indonesian-based UN research centre specializing in secondary crops.
Geoff has qualifications in science, communication, education and international development, and has a keen interest in these fields, which his work at UNEP draws together. One of his hobbies is writing childrens books and he has published several non-fiction titles on technology and environmental topics.
