Yerzhan Aisabayev
Yerzhan Aisabayev is from Kazakhstan and has an M.A. in Philosophy and Social Sciences (focusing on Nation Building and Social Stratification) from Moscow State University and in Political Sciences (focusing on Environment, Development and International Relations) from Freie Universitaet of Berlin.

He has worked in the UN system since 1998, first at UNDP HQ in New York, and from 2002 until 2009 with UNEP Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) in Paris. Late last year he moved to Panama City to continue his work on ozone-related issues (Montreal Protocol) on both investment projects, e.g. in foams, refrigeration, aerosols, halons, etc; and non-investment projects, including training for refrigeration technicians in good servicing practices, capacity building for customs officers, policy advice for national ozone units in legislation update, etc.

Major focuses of his work are to develop national hydrofluorocarbon phase out management plans (HPMPs) in Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname; to help coordinate UNEP's Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean inputs for UNEP OzonAction reports, and to act as focal point for certification (in training of refrigeration technicians), national refrigeration associations, methyl bromide quarantine and pre-shipment.
