Having joined UNEP in 2009, Daniel Nixdorf works for the ACP MEAs Program in Brussels, Belgium. The program - run by the UNEP Division of Environmental Law and Conventions - supports the building of capacity to implement multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. As Liaison Officer Daniel relates closely with the EU and the ACP-Secretariat in the program implementation and supports the visibility of activities. He also works for the Tehran Convention, a regional MEA of the littoral states to protect the marine environment of the Caspian Sea, where he supports the implementation of the Convention Program of Work.
Prior to joining UNEP, Daniel was research assistant at the Chair for Public Law at the University of Siegen, Germany where he dealt with legal environmental concerns in the Caspian Sea region. His main interest lies in identifying and promoting effective ways of implementing multilateral environmental agreements.
Daniel holds a Masters degree in German & European Economic Law, having studied at the Universities of Siegen, Germany and Fribourg, Switzerland.
