Bharat Desai
Bharat Desai holds the Jawahalal Nehru Chair in International Environmental Law in the School of International Studies at Jawahalal Nehru University in New Delhi. He has a distinguished academic background in international law with a particular interest in environmental law, which he used to serve as Director of the Centre for Environmental Law at WWF India from 1997-99 on secondment from Jawahalal Nehru University.

He is the author of countless papers and articles contributed to both academic and general publications and has made visits in various capacities to revered academic institutions across the globe. Professor Desai is also a member of many professional bodies and expert groups in India and across Asia, and has represented India in many government delegations and national consultative groups focusing on climate change, sustainable development and biodiversity, among others.

He has written several books on the law in relation to environmental issues, the most recent of which is Multilateral Environmental Agreements: Legal Status of the Secretariats, which is about to be published by Cambridge University Press.
