Christian Nellemann
Dr. Christian Nellemann, Norway, currently leads UNEP's Rapid Response Assessments from UNEP's GRID Arendal Centre in Norway (www.grida.no). Educated in Norway and Alaska, USA, Dr. Nellemann has undertaken environmental investigations, research and expeditions in most environments worldwide, ranging from High Arctic to deserts, savanna, high mountains and tropical rain forests, including North, Central and South America, Europe, Russia, Africa and both Central, East, Southeast and Southern Asia, including extensive field expeditions.

He has also undertaken marine and coastal investigations, including on coral reef degradation. He has worked with wildlife crime including counter-poaching operations and investigations of transnational environmental crime in Asia, Americas and Africa. The rapid response assessments, accessible at http://www.grida.no/publications/rr/ cover a wide range of fields, from food security, climate change and poaching to illegal exploitation of natural resources.
