Alonso Lizaraz was born in 1986 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He graduated in Pure Biology from the Universidad del Zulia, and is interested in pursuing a Masters degree in Environmental Management.

Alonsos interest in the environment and its conservation was sharpened in 2005 when he participated in the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy Program, and went to Germany to participate in the Program's study tour as a representative of his country. After that experience he joined a regional youth environmental NGO called FEZU (Fundacin Ecolgica Zuliana) for which he is the Executive Director. Following this, he joined a national NGO called Vitalis, and is currently his state's main representative and coordinator for this organization. In 2009 Alonso was elected as the TUNZA Youth Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean. These responsibilities have led him to work with communities, schools, universities and a broad range of civil society groups, raising awareness about conservation of the environment, and helping these groups to actually undertake environmental action and solve some problems in a sustainable way.
