Amath Pathe Sene
Amath Pathe Sene works with the UNDP-UNEP Poverty and Environment Initiative (PEI) since 2009 as part of the UNDP Bureau for Policy Development Staff Out posted in PEI Africa Regional Team sitting in UNEP HQ-Division of Environmental Policy Implementation, Nairobi, Kenya.

His professional background comprises over 8 years of diverse work experiences in Strategic Planning for inclusive pro-poor growth, programming, projects management, monitoring and evaluation, joint planning at different levels of management ranging from the field ; to the national and regional level in Africa and Central Asia.
His current work entails providing technical and financial advisory policy support to PEI African countries to enhance the mainstreaming of the poverty, environment, climate change and gender nexus into national strategies, plans, budgets and investments.
He is results oriented and focused on client satisfaction (trained in UNDP PRINCE2) by promoting new approaches of how to convert policies into sustainable projects on the ground through strategic partnerships with private sector ( development and private banks, microfinance institutions, Capital Risk and Business Angels) as well as new partners such as China, Turkey, Brazil, India, South Korea ..

Prior to joining the UNDP-UNEP PEI, SENE starts with the UN as a UNDP JPO Dutch funded in Mauritania (2007-2009) where he served as program manager at the Environment and Energy Division. He managed a portfolio of 11 projects (environment and energy policies, climate change, water resources management, ozone, oil sector development, biodiversity ect...).

Before joining the UN, SENE worked as a Food Security Program officer in Afghanistan with Solidarites International and Groupe Urgence Rehabilitation et Developpement on a EC program called Linking Relief Rehabilitation and Development-LRRD (2006-2007).
SENE has also experience on research for development with the Senegalese Agricultural Research Institute (2004-2005).

SENE is an agronomy engineer by profession from Ecole Nationale d'Agriculture de Meknes, Morocco. He holds a post graduate diploma and a Master of Science the highest distinction in Rural Development t and Natural Resources Management from Institut Agronomique Mediterraneen de Montpellier-France. During his academic education, SENE received various awards and distinction (Excellency scholarships and prizes). He holds also certificates in Agricultural Entrepreneurship, Gender and sustainable development from the Centre for Agricultural Development Cooperation of Shefayim,Israel and in environment economics and policies, natural capital management from University Senghor of Alexandria, Egypt.
