David Owen joins UNEP's Division of Technology Industry and Economics with more than 10 years experience working as a project and programme manager in Europe, Africa and the Middle East in tourism research, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. He is responsible for the development and implementation of sustainable tourism-related activities contained within UNEP's sub-programme on resource efficiency, and contributing to UNEP's other priorities, notably on climate change and ecosystem management. UNEP's activities include serving as the secretariat to the Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism and development of the Sustainable Investment and Finance in Tourism Network (SIFT). David holds a Masters degree in Environmental and Geographical Sciences from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and a Bachelors degree in Economics and Geography from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He is also a past Board member for An Taisce (the National Trust for Ireland), a member of ICOMOS, and IAIA (International Association of Impact Assessors) and an affiliate of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
