Bryan Coll is a Public Information Officer at UNEP headquarters in Nairobi. Working with the Media Unit, he helps to communicate UNEP's work to journalists, organisations and members of the public around the world.
He writes press releases, responds to queries from journalists, organises press conferences and works on communication strategies for various UNEP activities. He also works on outreach projects including the UNEP Young Environmental Journalist Award.
Born in Northern Ireland, he studied Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge, UK. Before joining the United Nations, he worked as a freelance journalist in Belfast, most recently as a radio reporter with BBC Northern Ireland and as a stringer for TIME Magazine.
In 2008, he was the recipient of the Irish Times Douglas Gageby Fellowship and wrote a four-month series for The Irish Times on the social, economic and political changes in Northern Ireland since the signing of the Good Friday peace agreement. He also spent two years as a journalist in France - working as an online and television reporter for France 24 in Paris.
