Li Fengting
Prof. Li is currently working as a Special Coordinator for South-South Cooperation ad UNEP-China initiatives. He works to coordinate UNEP initiatives on South-South Cooperation, ensuring that SSC policy developments feed into UNEP programming and delivery at regional and national levels, and promote SSC through technology transfer, capacity building, resource mobilization, and research. He also support the monitoring of the developments concerning UNEP activities in China and linkages with Africa and the further development of the Global Universities Partnership on Environment and Sustainability, liaising with DEPI-EETU.

Prof. LI Fengting is the Deputy Dean of the joint Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, and College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai. Prof. Li joined Tongji University in 1997, and has been in his current position since June 2004. In his current position, he is instrumental in formulating, developing and implementing international education at Tongji University and facilitating the implementation of UNEPs strategy in the Asia-Pacific region and Africa. In recent years, Prof. Li has led multi-disciplinary teams in the areas of education, policy research and facilitated South-South cooperation.
In the past eight years, he played a key role in developing international education and expanding the relationship with UNEP, central government ministries and intentional organizations. He also presided over several national and regional training programs and contributed to the establishment of a network for environmental information.
Before joining Tongji University, Prof. Li earned a Bachelor degree of applied chemistry from Beijing Institute of Technology (1986), a Masters degree from Shandong Polytechnic University (1989), and a Doctoral degree from Nanjing University (1997), China. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in University of Georgia, USA from 2010-2011 and was a visiting professor at Free University of Berlin, Germany, in 2012.
Prof. Li is an expert in applying theories into practices, especially in the field of water treatment, where he established wide-range collaboration with industry. He owns more than 30 patents, among which many have been applied at home and aboard. Over 30 companies in China are using his technology and its products have been expanded to more than 40 countries.
