Eric Hoa
Eric Hoa joined UNEP in February 2013 as Associate Programme Officer for the Freshwater Ecosystem Unit (FEU) within the Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI). Born in France, he holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and an Engineering Degree from Ecole Centrale de Lille in France.

Before joining UNEP, Eric worked for 2 years as a senior consultant for BIO Intelligence Service (France), providing advocacy and policy support to the European Commission and national authorities (e.g. DEFRA (UK)), with regard to water and energy issues. He notably contributed to some preparatory studies on water efficiency for the Water Blueprint that was published in 2012 by DG Environment.

Earlier, Eric conducted water research projects at the Berlin Centre of Competence for Water (Germany) to develop sustainable water treatment technologies. Within the framework of the TECHNEAU project, he coordinated the design, construction and commissioning of a small-scale gravity-driven water treatment unit, with field tests in France and South Africa.

At UNEP, Eric assists in the development and implementation of policies with respect to freshwater ecosystem services and livelihoods. His work mainly focuses on the water, energy and food nexus, ensuring the integration of ecosystem-based management approaches within policy dialogues.
