Ioana Botezatu


Ms. Botezatu manages the Biodiversity Unit at the INTERPOL Environmental Security Sub-Directorate. The projects under this unit are Project Predator and Project Wisdom, designed to support good governance and to enhance law enforcement capacity for the conservation of wild tigers, snow leopards, elephants and rhinoceros.

Ms. Botezatu joined INTERPOL since the inception of the Environmental Crime Programme, which has evolved into the INTERPOL Environmental Security Sub-Directorate. She has represented the organization at a number of international conferences focused on inter-agency and international cooperation in environmental compliance and enforcement, alongside Ministers, Members of the EU Parliament, Heads of agencies and other senior representatives from the international community. She was also the International Partnerships Officer within the INTERPOL Environmental Crime Programme, where she was responsible for managing the Programmes international partnerships outreach alongside management, which ensured the sustainability of the Programme and its projects. This work also helped in building integral relationships and promoted the formation of National Environmental Security Task Forces (NEST).

Ms. Botezatu holds two Masters degrees on Sustainable Development and International Relations and in Business Communication in a Multicultural Environment. She is part of a team of international advisors and trendsetters for environmental security.
