Stefan Knights

Stefan Knights is a national of Guyana. He is a young lawyer who is pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews, Scotland.

Stefan is serving as the UNEP-TUNZA Youth Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean. He is very passionate about addressing challenges relating to sustainable development. Stefan looks at environmental, social and economic challenges relating to sustainable development from a legal perspective. He has coordinated a plethora of grassroots initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean geared towards achieving sustainability. Stefan has also written several articles on matters relating to, amongst other things: climate change; sustainable consumption and production; human rights; water quality and accessibility; and trade.

Stefan was groomed by the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) which has been promoting youth development and empowerment, and environmental advocacy in nineteen (19) countries in Latin America and the Caribbean for over twenty (20) years. Through CYEN he has participated in several development processes in the region and around the world. From 2013 to 2015 he served as the Special Envoy to CYEN on Small Island Developing States. Through his involvement in the UNEP-TUNZA and the CYEN processes, Stefan has become very knowledgeable about, and adept at, addressing challenges to sustainable development through verbal and written advocacy, and grass-root projects at the national, regional and international levels.
