Ruth Sego is the UNEP Bayer young Environmental envoy for Kenya, 2011. She strongly believes that the most effective way to address current environmental challenges is through practical approaches that make a difference to communities.
As Envoy, Ruth has been advocating for the wider adoption and use of clean cookstoves in Kenya. She understands the challenges that many women often face in providing for their families, and due to lack of options, resort to the use of wood fuel that often leads to indoor air pollution and its attendant effects.
She has represents youth in the work of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment and was part of the pan-African youth delegation at the 14th session of AMCEN in Arusha, Tanzania.
She has been an intern at UNEP's Division of Communications and Public Information, based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Ruth holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health from Kenyatta University.
She is speaks English, Swahili and French.
