The GC-23/GMEF programme of Special Events
Nairobi,
21-25 February 2005
The “Environment Institute” is the programme
which forms the umbrella under which all Special Events
during the 23rd Session of the Governing Council/Global
Ministerial Environment Forum (GC-23/GMEF) are organized.
The Environment Institute programme focuses on the implementation
of internationally agreed goals, including those in
the Millennium Declaration, and gives participants the
opportunity to take part in specially targeted events
and training courses related to the issues at stake
during GC-23/GMEF.
The
Environment Institute will be located in the central
Conference area. In addition to hosting a number of
one-hour Special Lunch and Evening Events organized
by UNEP and partners, the programme also offers three-hour
practical level training sessions in the afternoon (The
Institute@UNEP-GC/GMEF). The objective of the training
sessions is to focus on implementation of the Millennium
Development Goals 1, 3 and 7 related to poverty alleviation,
gender and environmental sustainability.On Thursday,
the African Business and Sustainable Development Roundtable
takes place parallel to the Environment Institute programme,
while on Saturday 26 January a field trip will be organized.
The
Environment Institute takes place from 21 to 25 February
2005. More information on Environment Institute events
will be made available on this website in the coming
week.
