| GMGSF-11 (formerly known as the Global Civil Society Forum) convened Sunday 21 February, and will continue through Monday 22 February 2010, prior to the Eleventh Special Session of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Governing Council/ Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GCSS-11/GMEF) (Bali, 24-26 February).
The first day of the GMGSF included the traditional dialogue with Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP. It also addressed issues relating to the Simultaneous Extraordinary Meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions (ExCOPs) (22-24 February, Bali).
Under the theme “Environment in the multilateral system,” GMGSF-11 will also consider International Environmental Governance and sustainable development, the "Green Economy," and biodiversity and ecosystems. (Source: ENB)
