What We Do

More than 100 countries participate in GEMS/Water, providing close to 4 million data entries. Data records range from 1977 to the present.

About Us

Technical and substantive work is carried out by staff at UNEP-DEWA in Nairobi, Kenya and in Koblenz, Germany at the FIH.

Initially, the new GEMS/W Programme will be advised by two expert groups (a) Working Group on Data (to be led by Germany); (b) Working Group on Capacity-building (to be led by Ireland). The terms of reference for both working groups are yet to be defined.
