UNEP’s aim is to promote chemical safety and provide countries with access to information on toxic chemicals.
UNEP promotes chemical safety by providing policy advice, technical guidance and capacity building to developing countries and those with economies in transition, including activities on chemicals related to the implementation of (SAICM).
|Gender mainstreaming seeks to:
|Differences in the frequency and circumstances of chemical exposure by children, women and men.
|Chemical risk assessments will incorporate gender specific tools and sex disaggregated data collection methods.
|Activities to raise awareness of the linkages between chemical exposure and the effects on human health and the environment, the sub-programme will highlight the gender differences in risks and impacts.
