Global Partnership on Waste Management

Country Needs Assessment Analysis

The Country Needs Assessment Analysis aims to identify gaps in current waste management activities around the world, to provide an overview of what kind of new activities are needed, and to suggest where stakeholders should work together, coordinate, and build synergies to avoid duplication of efforts. It has been based upon the responses of Governments and other stakeholders, in developing countries and countries with economies in transition, to a needs assessment survey developed by the GPWM secretariat. If you wish to submit a needs assessment survey for your country, please click here to fill in the questionnaire (.doc, 3 pages, 256KB) and send it to the GPWM secretariat at

Where possible, each country's waste management needs have been analyzed by waste stream and by area of capacity-building, while a summary of information is also provided. The full Needs Assessment Analysis Report comprises more detailed information on methodology and summaries of regional and global findings; it can be found here - Global Partnership on Waste Management (GPWM) Needs Assessment on Capacity Building in Waste Management Narrative Analysis Report(.pdf).
