Category B
Non-great ape range States that directly or indirectly support or participate significantly in programmes for the conservation of great apes and their habitat

These are governments that offer funding for the conservation of great apes. UNEP and UNESCO have received generous financial support for the GRASP Partnership from the governments of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Norway and the European Union through the European Commission. Other donor governments have voiced their support for the GRASP Partnership and we are currently pursuing new and additional funding grants with these and existing contributors. It is worth recognizing other countries like the United States which also fund great ape conservation through other organizations.

At the Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM) on Great Apes and the Great Apes Survival Project (GRASP) and the first GRASP Council Meeting held in Kinshasa in September 2005, Belgium, France, Italy, Sweden, United Kingdom ,United States of America and the European Commission signed the Kinshasa Declaration. The signatories of the declaration pledge, among other things, to a commitment to support GRASP and the Global Strategy, reinforcement of cooperation, support of the range States and the development and implementation of national great apes survival plans.
