Media AdvisoryA nerve centre, bringing together some of the most important United Nations and environmental organisations, is being set up in the heart of New York City for the 2005 World Summit. The 'Green Room' will be a meeting and media centre offering the latest news and ideas on the summit and how the Millennium Development Goals relate to environmental issues. The Green Room represents the shared understanding that conservation must focus on human well being, and that alleviating poverty requires investment in protecting natural benefits such as clean air and water, food, soil replenishment, and other ecosystem services. Partners include (as of 1 September 2005 , in alphabetical order):
Physically located in the New York offices of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Green Room will provide a meeting space to exchange information and ideas, and develop effective strategies for communicating the central role of environmental sustainability in development planning. In parallel to the physical Green Room, a virtual Green Room has been established to give a platform for all partners to publish their news releases, exchange information and maintain a virtual presence at the World Summit.
