The newest UNEP Goodwill Ambassador, the international football star Yaya Touré, is one of five candidates for the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year award. All fans are allowed to vote via the BBC page page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24808135 The winner will be announced on Monday, 2 December at 17:35 GMT.

Yaya Touré uses his celebrity status to raise the voice of UNEP to help combat the illegal ivory trade that sees thousands of African elephants slaughtered each year. When he is not shining in the football fields, the Cote d'Ivoire and Manchester City player takes action to spread the message that poaching is not only a crime against wildlife but also a serious threat to the security, political stability, economy, natural resources and cultural heritage of many countries.
