The report "Global Atmospheric Mercury Assessment: Sources, Emissions and Transport" is the response to the UNEP Governing Council's decision 24/3 IV requesting preparation of a report addressing:
- (a) Best available data on mercury atmospheric emissions
- (b) Current results from modelling on a global scale and from other information sources
This report, which is a summary report for policy-makers was presented to the Governing Council in 2009.
The the fully referenced scientific report "Technical Background Report to the Global Atmospheric Mercury Assessment" is also available.
Both the summary report and the technical report have been subject to review by Governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders.

The above mentioned reports take into account the efforts of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership Mercury Air Transport and Fate Research, including the "Mercury Fate and Transport in the Global Atmosphere: Measurements, models and policy implications" report.
