IETC at Rio+20
IETC took part to the Rio+20 - United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro from 13 to 22 June 2012, and organized two side events.
14 June 2012: "Wasted opportunity? Getting more out of waste in a green economy"
This side event was organized by IETC in cooperation with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and took place on 14 June 2012 from 16:15 to 18:30 at the Japan Pavilion in the Athlete park.
The “Wasted opportunity” side event at Rio+20 brought together government and private sector stakeholders to discuss their mutual needs and the respective contributions they can make to achieve sustainable waste management in a green economy context. As a follow-up activity, UNEP proposed to engage stakeholders in the development of guidelines for public-private partnerships in waste management.

As part of the Rio+20 side event "Japan day" organized by the Government of Japan, IETC made a presentation on the UNEP international mission on disaster debris to Tohoku, Japan. This event took place Wednesday 20 June 2012 from 12:45 to 14:00 at the Japan Pavilion in the Athlete park.
